Arab Children Congress

The annual Arab Children Congress (ACC) was initiated by Her Majesty Queen Noor Al Hussein following the 1980 Arab Summit Conference. Her Majesty wanted to give youths ages 14-16 the same opportunity as Nations Leaders to express their needs and aspirations and to be heard by decision-makers in the Arab world.

For the past 25 years, the Arab Children Congress has been held regularly in July of every year, and is considered to be the longest ongoing cultural gathering of Arab youth, bringing together children from throughout the Arab world. In 2004, the ACC began hosting participants from European countries, thus evolving into a valuable international event that contributes in bridging cultures, overcoming stereotypes, and raising awareness on democratic principles and human rights. The program gathers 4 youths from each participating country for a week of cultural interaction and learning, especially designed to promote peace, understanding, tolerance, and solidarity amongst youth. Last year, the congress celebrated its silver jubilee, “25 years of communication and creativity.”

International Partnerships

In 2003, the PAC became a full member of The International Association of Theater for Children and Young People (ASSITEJ); and in 2005 the PAC was made the Middle East regional partner by The Danish Center for Culture and Development DCCD to develop an Arab-Danish network of cooperation and learning. This network will include stakeholders in the culture sector from Denmark and the Arab world.
